What to bring and wear

  • Sailing Courses

If you are sailing Lasers or Picos you will probably need a wetsuit, however, if your course is in Wayfarers you are unlikely to need one. You will need a change of clothing, shoes that you don't mind getting wet (trainers or wetsuit shoes/boots) and a wind/waterproof jacket. Waterproof trousers are also useful. We can hire wetsuits and waterproofs to you if you do not have any - please see the price list and call us to check availability. Time of year and weather will dictate whether shorts and T-shirt or layers will be needed but it is always best to come prepared. Also, don't forget to bring a towel.

  • Powerboat Courses

If you have booked to have the tuition carried out in your own boat, we ask that you read the own boat tuition page as well as the advice below.

    Powerboat Level 2
It is highly recommended that you bring several layers of clothing, as well as, if you have any, a pair of oilskins (heavy weather jacket & trousers) and wellies, which are also invaluable, as you will most likely get wet on the RIB. A drysuit is also therefore acceptable. If you have none of these then you might want to consider some sort of waterproof top and bottoms and some trainers that are suitable for getting wet.

    RYA Safety Boat
Unlike the Powerboat Level 2, you should expect to get very wet (and possibly enter the water) and therefore bring either a wetsuit or drysuit to ensure that you don't get too cold. If you have neither of these then we are able to hire wetsuits to you on a daily basis.

  • All Courses

We will supply Buoyancy Aids and waterproof tops where needed, although if you have your own you are welcome to bring it. You may want to bring some food and a drink. We ask that all children bring their own bottle of sun cream and a hat with them to keep off those harmful rays, and adults are advised to do the same.
